I sold a brand new never opened battery to someone on craiglist and ten minutes later he calls me that it didnt work and he wants his money back. I tried recording my self talking with the basic sound recorder located in the accessories menu of windows programs. I know I have done it a couple of times in the past, the email friend finder tool on Facebook. I enter in my Yahoo address and then immediately now an error comes up: "We can’t import contacts from this address yet." What happened? Ok, so someone is stealing from my parents’ credit cards and their bank accounts. We’ve already contacted the police and we’ve had the bank accounts temporarily frozen. This lady has already spent 00 of my mother’s hard earned money on clothes! When she hasn’t bought any new clothes in years, because she’s been saving up. And I’m going to college this year and we really can’t have people stealing our money like this.

Ok, so my mom managed to extract the lady’s email address and address. My parents went to the police station today but it was closed, so they asked me to do one of those reverse searches online. I did a reverse email and a reverse address search. I couldn’t find anyone with that exact address, so I figured it wasn’t listed online. But I did find someone in the vicinity with the same name as that in the email. Like for instance yadayada@yahoo.com. I found a Ms Yada Yada who lives in Blah blah, California (and the address was in Blah blah California). So we confirmed that the address and the email aren’t made up. My Dad wanted to pay for the whole report but we thought, we don’t want to get thieved by an internet company, in addition to this awful person. Has anyone ever done these searches? Are they safe? Worthwhile?

My dad also started on about how this person might be using someone else’s identity (HONESTLY!) to steal from us. so this Yada Yada could be a perfectly nice old lady with twelve cats and no teeth who’s being brought into this whole terrible mess by someone.

Has something like this ever happened to any of you? What did you do? Should we just leave it up to the police, or do something ourselves? Because it’s terribly disconcerting waiting around for the goddamn police station to open while this person is gallivanting around with our money. What can we do?

Ok, this has been a major headache for years, and resulted in me having to eventually re-sign up with yahoo on the current account I am using now. I am not a business either. For my old address, I used to sign in almost daily, then one day my password was claimed inccorrecct, so I orginally abandoned it. But every now and then I try to re-create this email address, but I am told it is still being used. I did a reverse email search with the Network tools website, and in one line it says "closed" which leaves me to believe for some reason, Yahoo closed my old email account with no warning 6 or 7 years ago. I’ve spent hours on this, and it seems the last leg to turn on is to somehow contact yahoo and see if I can reactivate this account. But they wont talk to me unless I am with Yahoo business. Is there anyone out there with an alternate solution to my problem? Let me end by adding, I just recently tried signing into the old email address again, password doesnt work, and I tried a forgot password option, but the alternate email address seems to have been changed from what I had originally put (ie i put 8characters@hotmail.com but they have 10characters@hotmail.com). Following that failed attempted I tried the last option with verifying my birthdate and zipcode, etc. But that doesnt match either. So all in all I may be screwed in ever getting my old email address back, but another thing that leads me to beleive it’s closed, is that I tried sending an email to that address with a gmail email address, and it was undeliverable. Once again, has anyone experienced this and found an alternate solution? Sorry for the length of the question, but I wanted to touch base on basically everything I have tried to resolve this myself. I understand Yahoo has the right. When I say "for whatever reason" I am not saying they don’t. And I also understand that all the old emails and contacts will be gone. I wanted to try to reclaim the old email address, if it became free over time after being closed, for the pure fact of getting an email from another site very very recently. To add a bit more detail, I simply forgot my password on this other site, and the only email address they may be wanting to send a password reset to, is my old one. I am assuming even after a yahoo email address "specific name" is closed and can never be reactivated, that particular username will never be freed up again for anyone to use in the coming months or years to come? As with that site I created a new account too. So if I am screwed, so be it. But anyone else with any other additional info would be truly appreciated, and I am not asking anyone to repeat them selves either. Thanks again.
Oh and I also understand that with the email address being closed, that the recent email being sent from the other site would simply bounce back and not be sent, just in case anyone wanted to point that out.

Received anonymous harassing letter in mail. The author said I could email him/her and gave me a yahoo email account as a means to contact him/her. I paid for a reverse email look up search ans wasted because it told me nothing. The account has been open at least 8-10 months because this person also sent an email to me at that point, but I deleted it.

Any help would be appreciated. The email and letter were not threatening enough to contact police, but i find is quite upsetting and want to know who is doing this.

A while back, i asked a question on here about someone repeatedly sending invites to add them to my yahoo chat/messenger thing. the address from the person was amr_roben24@yahoo.com.
well, i blocked them. and they stopped. but now, i keep getting messages from my yearbook.com with the same person trying to get me to add them on myyearbook. I dont even have one of those accounts. so, i did a reverse I.P. lookup, and the address was from sunnyvale california. Im in california as well, but here is the weird part. My husbands crazy ex-girlfriend lives in san jose. and that has the same area code as sunnyvale. and she has tried to add me to my yearbook and i never did. (im happy with my myspace) so what are the chances of it being her? or has anyone else gotten emails from the amr_roben24@yahoo.com before? please help

I just received an email from my yahoo address with some advert, plus I can see from the cc line that it was sent to ALL people in my yahoo addressbook. I changed my password immediately, emptied the addressbook, I hope that’s enough. Is there something else I should do?
Is there a site I could forward this email to? Or find out how it happened? I scanned my computer a few days ago - av, spybot, the whole works so I don’t think it’s a keylogger.
I suspect it could be the Facebook Friend finder that is the culprit.

My boyfriend and I have been together about 2 and half years. We are talking about engagement and we have a beautiful daughter together, but the problem is throughout our relationship he has had a couple of internet issues. Such as creating email addresses that I don’t know about and making profiles at the trashiest sites on the net (Adult Friend Finder, Online Booty Call , Swing-lifestyle and more) he talks to these chicks on there and then moves it to like yahoo messenger mobile, so while I am thinking everything is okay and going great he was doing this behind my back. I bust him every time. I have found numerous email addresses and figure out the passwords and log in to them, but it’s no secret between him and I, so finally about 6 months ago I had enough. I told him that it was the sites or me and he cried and apologized and said nothing was worth losing our family over, so he stopped. Well my phone broke and I had to borrow his old one, in the phone are words saved like fwb (friends with benefits) or mistress. We haven’t had any issues and I know he stopped doing it, but the problem is he has done it so much in the past that it’s hard for me to let go. I know he hasn’t met any of them but he has had plenty of sexual conversations. To me, that is a form of cheating and this is why I find it to hurt so much. So even though the things in the phone are in the past, is it supposed to still bother me? So I asked him about it and he was so upset because it was from the past and he doesn’t do it anymore. Am I wrong, or what should I do?

I am trying to buy an item & I only have an email address that is associated with yahoo. I feel this person is scamming me but in away I don’t. He has given me pictures that I have asked for & at times has been slow about it. Then all of a sudden he wants to meet me 1/2 way & not give me an address as to where he lives. No money has changed hands but I will have to travel 800 miles to the meeting point & all I have is a cell #. The area in which he says he lives I did do a 1411 call with the operator & I was told No one by that name or last name was listed in that area. I’m afraid that if I drive the 800 miles that I will be stood up. I have tried reverse email search only to find that most want you to pay a fee. Can anyone ou there tell me how to research an email address with yahoo to see what the name on the account is? Or what the next step would be?

See. There’s tons of these sites. In these sites, you get a fake website address, and you paste it in an email, and your friends get the email and put the name of their crush along with some other stuff, thinking it’s a love calculator or something like that, and the results get sent to you. I can find them, but I’ve got smart friends and these site addresses, if you strip it down to the bare site, (i.e. www.yahoo.com/search1245 to www.yahoo.com) you find out that it’s a fake site. I am tortured by the past and it keeps resurfacing. the other night i dropped down the scroll bar on yahoo and saw (Adult friend Finder). ok so out of nowhere I get this email and that person is giving me their phone number and is like call me (from yahoo answers!!!). so i do a reverse phone number lookup (he also claims hes 27!!!!ha!) and luckily for me it’s residential so I find out whose number it is. The smiley face attachement called Tell_finder, was zipped. It came from a friend who said that he did not email it. The next morning, another friend of mine said that I emailed it to him, I DID’NT. I could not delete the file because it said that it was being used by another user. 24 hours later, the smiley face disapeared from the file name and allowed me to delete everything associated with the program from computer. The only other thing that it did, was change my homepage to an Iranian site that I can not read. I am very concerned about this because I work in Iraq with the Military and I am afraid that some vital classified material might have been hacked from my computer. It does not as I am using a cable Internet connection and it resolves to their host name. Is there any way to find out who someone is just by knowing their e-mail? The email address is a yahoo address, and I think it’s a pretty new one, so it should be in a current Yahoo directory or something. I’m looking to find a site that is totally free where I can type in the email address and it can give me the name and location of the person using this email. I dont want to pay just to find the name and/or location of where this email address is from. This is a yahoo email address that I am trying to reverse.

I need to lookup a hotmail address to see who it came from. How do I do that? Or - how do I do an ISP trace? I need to see who is sending harrassing emails. Thank you.
